Degassing valves have become the industry standard when packaging coffee or any product that may release gas as it sits on the shelf. Roasted coffee will release quantities of CO2 over time, leading to pressure buildup in the bag.
How it Works
The degassing valve was invented to help CO2 escape without allowing fresh air into the bag.
When the pressure level reaches 5 mbar, the valve automatically opens, releasing gas until levels are back down to 2 mbar.
This allows the coffee to stay fresher longer and helps the package keep its shape over time. Bean quality and aroma are also extended.
